Akshata lives at Mandrem, Pernem. Her father died when she was a student of II nd class leaving behind her mother Anita who is a house wife and her younger brother Suraj. Her mother was getting a small amount from the government as widow pension. This amount was not sufficient to support the family hence her mother worked in other people‟s fields and two houses as domestic help and earned some money. After passing X th class examination her school headmaster gave her the scholarship form. She applied for it and she was selected for ISEAF scholarship. Her sponsors were Mrs. Sylvie & Mr. Heiner Fangmann who helped her financially to complete her education. After passing MA in Marathi she studied for another two years and completed MA with sociology subject. Then she did her B.Ed. and is working as a teacher in a famous school in Goa called K.B. Hedgewar high school at Kujira, Bambolim, Goa.
