Valencia Estibeiro
“My name is Valencia and I stay at Amblai, Ponda. I have a vague memory of my father as he passed away when I was very small. My mother Salvasao took care of me and brought me up. The only income we were having was the widow pension given by the government. This was a very small amount and we could not survive with it. Hence my mother used to for work as a domestic help in different houses and earned some money. When I passed the Secondary exam with good marks our headmaster directed me to apply for a scholarship from ISEAF which I got.”
“I wanted to become a medical doctor. But my marks for the CET (Common Entrance Test) were not good. Hence I got admission for B.Sc nursing in Goa Medical College. I completed the course and presently I am working there as a staff nurse. I am getting a good salary and I can look after my mother now. I am very grateful to my sponsor Mrs. Kerstin Nikel. She always encouraged me and her support and ISEAF’s help made my future.”
