He met waiter Vincent D’Souza who helped scout 4 students at SFX H S, Siolim. His friends in Germany, impressed by his work, offered support. On next trip to Goa, he had collected enough to fund education for 15-20 students
He was introduced to Stella Jacob, headmistress of Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Arambol. She helped identify deserving students who needed help. They visited homes & met parents. Stella introduced him to her husband, Jacob Mathew, an educationist in Paliem, Pernem
They started Bhumika Technical Institute in Paliem in 1995 with 2 trades: turner & electrician. Today, it offers training courses in plumbing, welding, tailoring, automobile mechanics, home nursing & more. In 1997, Keerti Vidyalaya Technical Institute started at Siolim
They provided scholarships for academically competent but poor students. Indian Students Educational Aid Foundation has sponsored education of over 3000 students over last 30 years. The beneficiaries have become doctors, chartered accountants, advocates, teachers, engineers & professionals
He was 44 when he set on his mission. He paid from his pocket for multiple trips to Goa to follow up. Today, he has support of nearly 500 active sponsors from Germany, mostly judges, teachers & small businessmen. His dedicated team led by the Jacobs is doing great work in Goa
Home Nursing Bureau, established in 2005 is another milestone. As demands kept increasing Holy Cross Indo-German Techno Centre in Marna was established. His enthusiasm to help the underserved remains unabated
